Shirley Earle Walker

Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Earle Walker, 88, of West Columbia, South Carolina will be held on Wednesday, 11:00 am at the Greater St. Paul AME Church 662 Old Wire Rd. West Columbia, South Carolina, burial will follow un the Church Cemetery. She will lie instate at the church one hour before service. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, from 12:00 to 7:00 at the Pearson's Funeral Home 4508 N Main Street Columbia, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Amanda Williams Earle was born on September 30, 1934 in Cayce, SC. Shirley was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Shirley attended Lakeview High School of West Columbia, SC. She was employed at Carolina Eastman and Lexington School District Two from which she retired. She was a member of the Greater St. Paul AMEC and served for many years in various leadership roles. She participated in the Senior Choir, Woman's Missionary Society and Pastor's Aid. Shirley was a "natural" caregiver nurturing and caring for many children, related and non related, as well as family members and friends. She was affectionately known as "Mrs. Shirley" or "Mother Walker" throughout the community. She never meet a stranger and welcome individuals to her home feeding most with home cooked meals and desserts. She allowed the light of Christ shine through her and would say "Let the life I lived speak for me so I want no remarks at my funeral. She was married to the late Nathan Walker and to this union was blessed with ten children. Shirley was preceded in death by her sons Nathan Fletcher Walker and Ronald Steven Walker, her grandson Travis Sentell Staley and her great grandson Shane Brooks. Mother Shirley leaves to carry on her legacy and cherished memories: her daughters, Carol Daniels (Charles), Tena Staley, Jacqueline Hall all of Cayce, SC, Wanda Dale Simons (Zellie) of Columbia, SC, Debbie J Walker and Karen W. Graydon of West Columbia, SC; daughter-in-law Debbie Muller Walker and Deborah Brown Walker; sons: Charles Brooks (Mary) and Michael Brooks (Corrine) both of Gaston, SC, Carl Walker (Marilyn) and Charles P. Earle ( Martha ) both of West Columbia, SC, sister in-laws Dorothy Earle, Rebecca Johnson, Josephine Blackmon (Leon) brother-in-law Wilson Walker, grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and a host of other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the building fund for Greater St.. Paul AMEC 662 Old Wire Road West Columbia, SC, they accept cash outs.
