Services for Mrs. Sharon Jocelyn Jones, of West Columbia, South Carolina will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 2:00 pm at the Greater St. Paul AME Church 662 Old Wire Road, West Columbia, South Carolina with burial in the church cemetery. There will be a viewing on Thursday from 12:00 to 7:00 pm at Pearson's Funeral Home, 4508 N. Main Street, Columbia, South Carolina. Mrs. Jones will lie-instate on Friday at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Sharon Jocelyn Jones was born on September 10, 1959, in Elgin, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Paul Charles and Pauline (Lawhorne) Cooke, also of Elgin, South Carolina. She departed this life on May 24, 2024, at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, SC. Sharon attended Spring Valley High School in Columbia, SC, where her teachers often encouraged her to become an attorney or Spanish teacher. She was loved by her teachers and classmates.). After graduating from Spring Valley, Sharon married William Jones from West Columbia and had five beautiful children, one of whom died a few days after birth. Being a mother, and raising her children was the most important aspect of her life. In caring for her four young children, she was selfless, nurturing, caring and willing to sacrifice. Her children and grandchildren was her first love, and she embraced every monument with joy. Outside of being a mother, Sharon's second love was her sisters. Although she was youngest of four girls they had a relationship unlike any other. They were there for each other in every way, and the bond and love she had with them could never be broken. Sharon was also known for her love of flowers, poetry and yard sales. Throughout her life you would find her writing poems, planting flowers in her garden, or having yard sales on Saturdays. She was blessed with hands that could write words that touch a person's heart and grow a plentiful garden; this was just a small reflection of a brilliant mind, and nurturing soul, and entrepreneurial spirit. Her sense of humor was one for the ages. To know Sharon, is to know of her strength and courage, and that she cared for people that she loved with a reckless abandon. Her determination was fierce and unwavering, that she was witty, and her sense of humor was ruthless. She was an amazing mother, sister, auntie, and friend. Her personality was strong because she had to be strong, She was truly a force to be reckoned with. Her legacy of love, strength, courage, and Joy will continue to enlighten all that knew her. Her family and friends will miss her immensely, but they take solace in the many cherished memories they have of her. Sharon is survived by her husband, William Nathaniel Jones of West Columbia, SC; two sons, LeBryan Jones of West Columbia, SC; Trevor Jones of Chapin, SC; two daughters, Adrienne Jones of West Columbia, SC; Ashton Jones of Irmo, SC; three sisters, Gertrude Goins of Columbia, SC; Charliesene Williams of Elgin, SC; Doris Kelly of Blythewood, SC; two brothers, Richard Cooke (Lois) of Blythewood, SC; Ronald Cooke of Columbia, SC; seven grandchildren, D'Riante, Jones; Keira Harris, Jersey Powell, Freddie Powell, Kaiden Powell, Kingston Davis and Cayce Jones. Sharon was preceded in death by one son, LeBrent Jones; one brother, George Cooke.She leaves behind a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends.
