Funeral services for Mrs. Rudell Gandy Scipio 100, of 129 Bluff Oak Road Columbia, S.C., will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am January 20, 2021 at the Kingdom Vision Church 1701 Alta Vista Road Columbia, South Carolina There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 12:00 to 7:00 pm  in the Pearson's Funeral Home with burial in the Swansea Cemetery, Swansea, South Carolina. Mrs. Rudell Gandy Scipio entered into eternal rest Tuesday, January 12, 2021 peacefully at home in Columbia, South Carolina. Rudell was born July 10, 1920 to the late Dora Brooker and Benjamin Gandy in Swansea, South Carolina. She was one of (9) children. Rudell met the love of her life Nathaniel Sci[io Sr. and they entered into Holy Matrimony in 1936. Their love was very faithful and multiplied, blessing them with ten (12) beautiful children. Nathaniel and Rudell later moved from Swansea, SC to the big city of Columbia, South Carolina where they desired to provide more opportunities and advantages for their children. Together, Nathaniel and Rudell overcame several obstacles including the death of two infant children, leaving them to groom and impart values into the ten (10) remaining children, whom all turned out to be well accomplished men and women. Rudell took much pride in rasing several of both she and her husband's younger siblings, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Rudell was the true definition of Proverbs 31 "Vituous Woman" for truly her price is far above rubies, her husband truly trusted and praised her, She worked willingly with her hands, she brought forth plenty of food, she planted vineyards, she extended her hands to many in need, she spoke a wealth of wisdom, and truly all generation of her children arise and called her blessed. She remains  the example of great excellence and strength as the matriarch of our family. She was intentional about depositing every ounce of herself into everyone she came in contact with, and made sure to share knowledge such as: home remedies, parental guidance, housekeeping, and so much more. Rudell was well known for her excellent cooking skills and her one of a kind recipes such as: homemade buttermilk biscuits, smoke sausage with brown onion gravy, homemade pound cake, canned fruit preserves, and of course the two fan favorites," Scipio fried chicken" and" turnover bread". Rudell desire was everyone felt and knew they were valued and loved after having been in her presence. She was a loving and concerned neighbor who always did her part to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the neighborhood and community. Rudell became a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Swansea, SC over seventy (70) years ago and although she wasn't able to attend services in person due to health issues that occurred some time ago, it was evidend that the spiritual wisdom and insight she obtained remained with her until her expiration date. Rudell was preceded in death by her parents, siblings of the home, loving sisters, and brothers in-law, her loving husband of fifty-two (52) years, three (3) sons, Nathaniel Scipio Jr, Rudolph Scipio,  and Eugene Scipio, two (2) sons in-law, David Henderson Sr. and Booker T. Nelson, two (2) daughters in -law, Betty Scipio, and Peggy Scipio, two honorary daughters, Vernell Gandy Sutton and Verdia Mae Millhouse, four (4) grandchildren, Sebreena Henderson, Kevin Nelson, Damien Jamison, and Anthony Donaldson, one great-grandchild Robert Coates Jr. Immediately following her death, her loving son. Clyde Scipio transitioned from earth on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Rudell was loved by many, and today she leaves to cherish precious memories in their hearts: Two (2) loving sons, Terry Scipio and Jerry (Carla) Scipio, of Columbia, SC, four (4) dedicated daughters, Reatha Mae Henderson, of Philidelphia, PA, Odell (Rash) Richbow, Shelly Mae Nelson and Gerald Benson of Columbia, SC. One honorary son Jimmy Millhouse of Columbia, SC. Two loving daughters in-law Francena H. Scipio and Linda Scipio of Columbia, SC. four generations of grandchildren, a special loving niece, Vernesta Richardson of Columbia, SC. a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
