Service for Mrs. Rosa Mae Bowman, 96, of Cayce, South Carolina will held on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 12:30 pm at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church 1804 Wilkinson Street Cayce, South Carolina, burial will be at Southland Memorial Gardens 700 W. Dunbar Rd. West Columbia, South Carolina. Viewing will be on Thursday, from 12:00 to 6:00 pm and a wake from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Pearson's Funeral Home 4508 N. Main Street Columbia, South Carolina. Mrs. Rosa Mae Bowman , the only child born to the late Charlie Blackwell and Nancy Lee, entered this world on Tuesday, September 4, 1929, in Pelion, South Carolina. God, in His infinite mercy, called her home to take her eternal rest on December 13, 2025, in her 96th season, surrounded by her loving family. Rosa received her early education in local schools and later continued her education at Booker T. Washington High School. She dedicated many years of faithful service to K-Mart, where her strong commitment, integrity, and work ethic earned her the respect and admiration to both colleagues and the community. After more than 20 years of service, she retired to lovingly care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a role she cherish deeply. On January 5, 1948, she was united in holy matrimony to Willie Fornia Bowman, and 6 children were born to this union of 64 years. Rosa was a devoted and faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Cayce, South Carolina, where she served tirelessly in numerous leadership roles. Her service included Youth Usher Board President, Founder of the AC Choir, Missionary President, Superintendent of Sunday School, and was affectionately known as a true "Mother of the Church." A beloved member and mother figure to many in the Cayce community, Rosa touched countless lives through her kindness, generosity, wisdom, and unwavering faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Bowman; oldest daughter Vernetta Tilman; and her only son Mario Bowman; and son-in-law, John Bell. Rosa leaves to cherish her loving memories and carry on her legacy her four daughters; Shirley (Arnold) Carter of Atlanta, GA; Delma (Talmadge) Foulks of Lexington, SC; Renae Golden-Bell of Nashville, TN; Michelle Everett of Lexington, SC; son-in-law James Tilman of Columbia, SC; and daughter in -law, Lawanda Bowman of Sacramento, CA; along with her beloved 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great- grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives, church family, and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
