Service for Mr. Perry Woodrow Richardson, 65, of Columbia, South Carolina will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 11:00 am at Brookland Baptist Church on 1066 Sunset Blvd. West Columbia, South Carolina, There will be a viewing Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at Pearson's Funeral Home 4508 N. Main Street Columbia, South Carolina. Perry Richardson was born on July 6, 1060, to the late Betty Jean Richardson Brooks in West Columbia, South Carolina. As a young boy, Perry and his sister, Barbara Jean, suffered the untimely death of their mother, Perry was adopted and raised by his Aunt, whom he called "momma", Gwendolyn Richardson Dervin, and his father figure, the late Thomas C. Dervin, Jr. Perry love for sports started at a young age with basketball and football. After graduating from Brookland Cayce High School, Perry enlisted in the United States Army. Perry loved to support youth athletics. His love for sports fueled his goal of becoming an umpire with the Carolina Baseball Association. Perry entrepreneurial spirit allowed him to open a fireworks stand and sell peanuts. Perry also loved to fish. He was kind, loved helping others, and was known as "Blue" among his friends. Perry accepted Jesus Christ at Brookland Baptist Church. Perry often testified to God's Faithfulness to him and to his belief that prayers of the righteous avail much. Perry was preceded in death by his sisters, Rev. Paula Way, Catherine McKnight, his nephew Keon Blackmon, and his father Douglas Jones. Perry leaves to cherish his memory and and mourn his loss, his son; Daniel Blue Richardson of the home, siblings; Barbara Jean (John) Morant, Denise (Brentson) Butler, Reggino Richardson, Glendora Holmes, Leslie Dubard, Angela, Keith, Kenny, Danny, Mark, and Carl Jones, nieces; LaSonya (Berry) Reed, Lateisha Richardson, Kristy (John) Coleman, Dr. Nia Buckner, Nya Buckner, Shauna (Shanonte) Stroman, Nephews, Prince (Brittany) Richardson, Carlos (Sheila ) Golston, Vydal Campbell, James (Laura) Way, Brandon Buckner, Antwon Richardson. His beloved aunt Patricia and uncle Stanley Tucker, cousins, Benita Richardson Rodney (Navadia) Richardson, Terence (Lashunda) Richardson, Randy Hall, Kim Hall, Berry Sullivan, Windell (Sandra) and James Richardson, Joanne (George) Bradley, Gloria (Rudy) Fontanez, Godsister Gwendolyn Jackson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
