Service for Mrs. Mildred Nell Purdie 78, of Gaston, South Carolina will be held on Tuesday, January, 14, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Platt Springs Baptist Church 1351 Pine Street, West Columbia, South Carolina. With Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be a pubic viewing on Monday, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at the Pearson's Funeral Home 4508 N. Main Street Columbia, South Carolina. Mrs. Purdie will lie in-state at the church on Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. Born in Columbia, South Carolina the daughter of the late Mr. Melvin Lawson and Mildred Foster on April 1, 1946. She was a member of the Platt Springs Baptist Church and retired from the Lexington Medical Center as a Environmental Service Specialist, and she volunteered for the Special Olympic for many years. She is survived and cherished by her loving sons, Tony Purdie of Gaston, SC; Elliott D. Purdie of Gaston, SC; and daughters, Wendy Robinson of Pelion, SC; Janice P. Lites of Lexington, SC; Susan P. Brown of Lexington, SC; Jeannelle Purdie of Gaston, SC; Jeannette P. Graves of Lexington, SC; and twenty four grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, sisters, Barbara Murphy of Columbia, SC; Diane Lawson of Cayce, SC; Shirley Lawson of Gaston, SC; Jackie Belton of Gaston, SC; brothers Nelson Lawson of Cayce, SC; James Melvin Lawson of Cayce, SC; Joseph Lawson of Cayce, SC; Morris Gibson of Cayce, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends who loved her so very much.
