Service for Mrs. Jewell Loretta Hopkins 69, of Cayce, South Carolina will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church 1804 Wilkinson Street Cayce, South Carolina with burial on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 11:00 am Ft. Jackson National Cemetery 4170 Percival Road Columbia, South Carolina. Mrs. Hopkins will lye in-state on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church. Viewing will be Wednesday, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Pearson's Funeral Home 4508 N. Main Street Columbia, South Carolina. Mrs. Jewell Loretta Smith Hopkins (affectionately known as Loretta)  went  to join our heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 18, 1956 to the late Mr. Julius Smith and Mrs. Ora Mae Robinson White. She attended Airport High School and later attended Voorhees University where she received a degree in sociology and graduated magna cum laude. She was a devoted, loving wife, mother, NaNa, sister and auntie. She was a dedicated employee for over 20 years at Blue Cross Blue Shield Palmetto GBA. She was a quiet, sassy woman with a witty and funny personality. She was known to have a beautiful singing voice and could sing in high soprano. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching TV especially nonconventional reality TV shows. Her world famous dressing, deviled eggs and chicken noodles will be forever missed. To know her was to love her. She truly was quiet, calming presence who always knew what to say. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Nicole Smith, brothers, James Robinson, Benjamin (Gus) Robinson and Samuel (Sam) Robinson and nephews, Charles Jones and Demetrius Robinson. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 46 years, Kenneth S. Hopkins of the home; sons Everette (Karen) Smith; Kenneth Hopkins II; (Eric (Shanta) Hopkins; daughters, Stephanie (Travis) Millhouse and Krystal Hopkins; grandchildren: Crystal, Natalie, IndiLurene, Logan, Christian (Alaishia), Gabriel, Karensen, Kylah, Tyson, Aiden. She is survived by her sisters,: Sarah Patterson, Val Madison, Johnnie Mae (Van) Watson, Sherry Marks-Pearson, Audrey Fleming, Stephanie Small; sister-in-love, Alice Robinson, Minnie Robinson, Angela Davis; brother-in-love, Jimmy (Patricia) Way; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
