Service for Mr. Jack Quince Norton, Sr. 90, of Columbia, South Carolina will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Pearson's Funeral Home-Chapel 4508 N. Main Street Columbia, South Carolina, burial will follow at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens 2603 Two Notch Columbia, South Carolina, there will be a viewing on Wednesday, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm at the Pearson's Funeral Home 4508 N. Main Street Columbia, South Carolina. On Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the blessed age of 90, Jack Quince Norton Sr. peacefully departed this earthly life at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. He was born in Davidson, North Carolina the son of the late Rutledge Charles Norton and Rossie Mauney Norton on December 7, 1933. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Meetze Norton, three sisters, Margaret Norton Byers, Lois Norton Graham, and Betty Norton, and two brothers, Charles Linden Norton and Herbert Norton. Jack was educated in the Public schools of North Carolina and was a proud 1952 graduate of Huntersville High School, Jack served a short stint in the United States Army and later became a master barber, owned his barber shop, and then retired as a Richland County Correction Officer. One thing that he absolutely enjoyed was cooking. His infamous "chow chow' was a tasty treat enjoyed by many. He was a pillar of our community who didn't mind helping others and enjoyed his life to the fullest. Above all, his pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory and legacy are his three children, Myra Norton of Charlotte, North Carolina, Pamela Norton of Columbia, SC,and Jack (Jacky) Q Norton Jr. (Jackie) of Columbia, SC, seven grandchildren, Angela Norton-Stukes (Lucinda) of Summerton, SC, Kristi Teasley (Bobby) of Concord, NC, Jasmine Monteith (Rodney), Azia Anderson, Julian Bradley of Charlotte, NC, and Ruby and Jade Norton of Columbia, SC. Five great grandchildren: London, Kamryn, Ava, Nalani, and Braedyn and three nephews, George Norton, Mike Norton and Chris Norton. Jack leaves a lasting legacy to all who knew him as a staple member of his community. He was loved and cherished by many. He will live forever in the hearts of his family and friends, and his presence will be greatly missed.
