Irene Bradley Obituary

. Service for Ms. Irene Johnson Bradley will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 1:00 pm in the Pearson's Funeral Home-Chapel 4508 N. Main Street Columbia, South Carolina. Irene Johnson Bradley, a much-loved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this earthly life on April 15, 2026, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital. Born on November 18, 1954, Irene was a cherished addition to the family of the late James "Jim" Johnson, and Alberta Russell Johnson. She was the fourth of seven children. Our hearts are filled with sadness, but today we celebrate the life she lived, the lives she touched and the memories we will carry forever in our hearts. Irene Johnson Bradley, began her spiritual foundation at New Life Baptist Church in Cayce, South Carolina. She attended public schools in Lexington County. She began her professional career at the Lexington County Department of Finance before embarking on a rewarding 27-year career in customer service at Walmart stores in Columbia, South Carolina. During her retirement, Irene embraced her passions for fishing, gardening, and most of all, cooking. Irene was an amazing cook and learned this art of cooking from her maternal grandmother, the late Mrs. Jessie Mae Russell-Hicks, who played an instrumental role in her upbringing. Irene’s legacy of love, creativity, and hospitality brought many family and friends together around the dinner table. Irene was married for 35 years to Macfie "Bum" Muhammad, sharing a lifetime of memories until his passing. In later years,. Irene mourned the loss of her siblings: Henry "Jimmy" Johnson, Larry Johnson, James "Anthony" Johnson, and Selina Johnson Wright. She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Moneek J. (Emery) Benn, and her son, Avias "Macfie" Johnson, both of Columbia, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Asia Benn and Mya Benn, both of Columbia, South Carolina; her great-grandson, Princeton Lykes of Columbia, South Carolina; her sisters, Winifred Johnson and Janet Johnson-Whipple, both of Columbia, South Carolina; her sister-in-laws Dianne Johnson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Tereas Daniels Johnson  of Gaston, South Carolina. And brother-in-law Anthony Wright of Columbia, South Carolina; two great-aunts, Leola Rice of Columbia, South Carolina and Thomas Ann Rice of Orangeburg, South Carolina; along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and loving friends. As we remember Irene Johnson Bradley, let us celebrate her life, the joy she brought to others, and the love that will always live on in our hearts. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely shared.
