Hernetha Smith Favor

Service for Mrs. Hernetha Smith Favor, 85, of Cayce, South Carolina will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 1:00 pm at the Pearson's Funeral Home 4508 N. Main Street Columbia, South Carolina with burial to follow in the Celestial Memorial Gardens 3111 Delree Street West Columbia, South Carolina. There will be a viewing held Thursday, from 1:00 to 7: 00 pm at the Pearson's Funeral Home 4508 N. Main Street. Born in Lexington County the daughter of the late Deacon Arthur Smith and Sylvia Gadson Smith on July 30, 1938. She was later united in holy matrimony to the late Henry Clay Favor, for 50 years until his death in 2010. From this union a son was born Gregory Alonzo Favor. She was employed by the Mount Vernon Mills for 15 years and retired from Kmart after 20 years of service. Mrs. Hernetha, was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt grandmother and special friend. "Ms. Hike" will be remembered  as a very special lady, and the Unofficial Historian for family and friends. She attended the schools of Lexington County, graduated from Lakeview High School in 1956. At an early age she became a member of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Cayce, SC; She is survived by her son, Gregory Favor of West Columbia, SC; two granddaughters, Jaree Jacobs of West Columbia, SC; Letrina Doctor of Columbia, SC; and one grandson, Jared Rumph of West Columbia, SC;  great grandchildren, Joshua Doctor, Truth Doctor both of Columbia, SC; Mahogany Jacobs of West Columbia, SC; Patrick Newman, Jr., of West Columbia, SC; Clytron Cokley of West Columbia, SC; sister-in-law Margaret Scipio Euclid, Ohio; Leola English Avon Park, Fla;  God-daughters, Cynthia Pralow Gibson of Gaston, SC; Myra Brown of Cayce, SC; and God-son Allen (Lynette) Atkins of St. Matthews, SC; nephew, Arthur (Lucille) Smith, Jr., of Columbia, SC; adopted granddaughter, Tasha Walker of West Columbia, SC; And a very special thanks to these dear friends.
