Henry Lee Furtick

Service for Mr. Henry Lee Furtick, Jr., 72 of Duluth, Ga. will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 11:00 am at Mt. Pisgah AME Church 129 Dixiana Road West Columbia, South Carolina with burial to follow in the church cemetery 2 Cemetery Road off of Fish Hatchery Road West Columbia, South Carolina. There will be a viewing on Tuesday from 1:00 to 7:00 pm at Pearson's Funeral Home 4508 N. Main Street Columbia, South Carolina. Mr. Henry Lee Furtick, Jr., affectionately known as "Dickie" was born on December 21, 1951, to the late Henry Furtick, Sr., and Vernell Lorick Furtick. The eldest of his siblings, Henry peacefully transitioned his earthly life to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Henry attended Lakeview High School and graduated from Airport High School in 1970, where he played both football and basketball. He attended Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. Henry devoted his life to God at an early age when he joined Mount Pisgah African Methodist Episcopal Church. At his passing, Henry and Lydia were members of Mount Piran North Church in Marietta, Georgia. You would often see Henry's contagious smile before you saw him as he was loving, kind, generous and dedicated to helping others. Family meant the world to Henry and in October 1987 he expanded his with the birth of Henry Byron, later joined by Taylor in April 1990. On October 15, 2009, Henry married the love of his life, Lydia Vanessa Elzy and welcomed his children, William "Andy", Micah, and Khea Andrews. Through this union, Henry became "Papie" to Landis, Karie, Karson, Jalen, Avery, and Kyler, whom he loved with all of his heart. Henry continued his contribution to strengthening family ties with his assistance in the establishment of "The Magnificent Seven Family Reunion. He was employed by various insurance agencies and retired as the Regional Vice President of Travelers Insurance Company in 2017 after 42 years of dedicated service. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Vernell Furtick; father-in-law, Rudolph Elzy, Sr.; and nephew, Jason Cook. Henry leaves to cherish his memory: His devoted and loving wife, Lydia Vanessa Furtick; children, Byron Henry (Katie) Furtick and Taylor Allen (Marian) Furtick; William "Andy" (Ashely) Andrews, Jr.; Micah (Kristine) Andrews and Khea Andrews; grandchildren, Landis, Karie, Karson, Jalen, Avery and Kyler; sister, Diane (Robert) Cook; brothers, Wesley (Linda) Furtick, Anthony Furtick; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Elzy; sister-in-law, Melody (Ralph) Walton; Brothers-in-law, Rudolph "Alonzo" (Monica) Elzy, Jr. and Ronald Elzy; best friend Drew Walker; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends who will miss him dearly.
