Service for Mrs. Gloria Jean Matthews, 83, of Lexington, South Carolina will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 2:00 pm Mt. Pisgah AME Church 129 Dixiana Road West Columbia, South Carolina with burial to follow in the church cemetery. There will be a viewing on Friday from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Pearson's Funeral Home 4508 N. Main Street Columbia, South Carolina. Mrs. Matthews will lye in-state in the church on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Born in Lexington County the daughter of the late Eddie Bush Matthews and Minerva Gantt on April 27, 1940. She was a member of the Mt. Pisgah AME Church for many years and a member of several of there auxiliaries Mrs. Matthews is survived and cherished by her daughter, Brenda (Reginald) Hopkins of Lexington, SC; and son, Kelvin Muller of San Francisco; two grandchildren Kendall Hopkins of Lexington, SC; Jaylon (Noorie) Hopkins of Charlotte, SC; one brother, Sherman (Evelyn) Matthews West Columbia, SC; one sister, Bessie Gardner of West Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
