Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Etheredge Perry 90, of 2320 Julius Felder Street Cayce, South Carolina will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at the Turner Memorial AME Church on 1122 Monticello Street West Columbia, South Carolina with burial will follow in the Double Branch Cemetery West Columbia, South Carolina; There will be a viewing held Friday from 12:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the Pearson's Funeral Home-Chapel. Mrs. Perry will be placed in church one hour before services on Saturday. Born in Lexington County the daughter of the late Eugene Hunter and Jessie Bell Brown Jenkins on December 11, 1929. Sister Perry was employed with Lexington County School System and the South Carolina Mental Health, where she retired after 25 years. After retirement she served as a caregiver for 15 additional years for the Lee Baker family of Columbia, South Carolina. Sister Perry gave her life to Christ at an early age at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Cayce, South Carolina. She served many years on the Usher Board and the Jubilee Choir. Later in life she joined Turner Memorial AME Church of West Columbia, SC where she was currently serving as a stewardess, and sang on the Jubilee Choir. She was recognized as grandparent of the year by Turner. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husbands Ben Allen Etheredge and Waren Perry; two brothers, Lester Jenkins and Erskine Hunter. Mrs.Perry is survived by her son's Rudolph Etheredge of Columbia, South Carolina, Allen Etheredge (Harriett) of Columbia, South Carolina, Sherwood Etheredge of Tacoma, Washington, Jerome Etheredge (Janice) of Columbia, South Carolina, Keith Etheredge (Sheila) of Columbia, South Carolina, Her daughters, Evelyn Etheredge of West Columbia, South Carolina, Ethel Williams of Columbia, South Carolina, Carrie Glover of Tacoma, Washington, Ralphetha Davis of Columbia, South Carolina and Wanda Hawkins (Frank) Baton Rouge, Louisiana grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
