George William Rapley, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. George William Rapley, Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina will be held on Saturday April 3, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Pearson's Funeral Home-Chapel 4508 N. Main Street Columbia, South Carolina with burial in the Robinson Memorial Gardens on Farrow Road. Viewing will be held on Friday from 1:00 to 7:00 pm at the Pearson's Funeral Home. He was born in Greenwood, South Carolina the son of the late Mr. George William Rapley Sr. and Mrs. Willie Othella Williams on November 16, 1959. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church for many years, and on the Men's Choir and a Youth Counselor.  And a graduate from W.J. Keenan High School. George excelled in the Chorus and a member of the football and basketball team. Then he went to attend the Anderson Jr. College on a basketball Scholarship. He served four years in the U.S. Navy, and worked as a Manager at Jiffy Lube, and Manager Raveen Chickin Farms and before his illness he was a Manager at McEntire Produce. He was preceded in death by his parents, Deacon George W Rapley, Sr. and Deaconess Willie O. Rapley. One sister Patricia Rapley Jeffery. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Vhelma R. Rapley of the home, and three sons, Alfonzo Wodford of Columbia, SC,  George William Rapley III  of Columbia, SC, and Antonio Rapley of Dallas, Texas one brother, Michael Rapley Sr. (Robyn) of Columbia, SC, and three sisters, Karon Rapley, Sharon Rapley and Linda Cayruth (Mike) all of Columbia, SC. five aunts and four uncles and six nephews and four nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
