Etora Leaphart Obituary

Service for Mrs. Etora B. Leaphart, 94,  of Lexington, South Carolina will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 1:00 pm New Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church 103 Cromer Road Lexington, South Carolina with burial in the Church Cemetery, Viewing will be held on Friday, from 2:00 to 7:00 at Pearson's Funeral Home 4508 N. Main Street Columbia, South Carolina . Mrs. Leaphart will lye in - state on Saturday from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at the church. Born in West Columbia, South Carolina  the daughter of the late Frank James and Bessie Brooks on May 06, 1931. She departed her early life on January 22, 2026, peacefully at home, surrounded  by her family. Etora was the youngest of 6 children and attended school in lakeview public school system. During her early adult years, she worked as a housekeeper. She was a loving nurture, whom spent her life providing nanny services to her grandchildren. She joined the church at a early age and was an active church member of New Mount Zion A.M.E. Church. for well over 60 years. She held multiple positions within the church, including serving as missionary, a member of the stewardess Board, a steward, a choir member, and she served on the Usher Board as well. "Aunt Skeet" as she was affectionately called by her family and close friends, was married to the lat James L. Leaphart of Lexington, South Carolina. Their union was blessed by God with seven children. Etora was preceded in death by one daughter, Glenda Marcelle "Pig" Leaphart, and two sons, James "Jim" E. Leaphart and Wayne "Dank" Leaphart.   . She is survived by her loving family her daughters, Bobbie Jean Leaphart of Lexington, SC; and Brenda Faye Leaphart of Columbia, SC; and two sons, William Leaphart of Lexington, SC; and Chrisswell (Viola-"Rita")Leaphart of Lexington, SC; a special cousin, Leon Smith of Irmo, SC; a long time friend, Mae Bell Strother of Lexington, SC; 14 grandchildren, Pastor Gigi "Sonji" Williams, Warne Harris, Baron "Mon" Harris, Marie Williams, Tomeka (Krill) Chaney, Tellas (Jennifer) Leaphart, DeBrecia "Gypsy" Leaphart, Rayco Bethea, James "Jimi" E. Leaphart Jr., Chrisswell :Pooh" Leaphart Jr., Crystal Jones, Jamie Davis, Joy (Brock) Mills, and Chad Leaphart; 30 great grandchildren and seven great great  grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and other relatives and friends who love her dearly.
