Services for Ms. Doris Forezene Everett, 88, of West Columbia, South Carolina will be held on Saturday at 1:00 pm in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church 1804 Wilkinson Street Cayce, South Carolina with burial to follow at the Lincoln @ Woodlawn Cemetery 10215 Farrow Road Blythewood, South Carolina. There will be a viewing on Friday from 1:00 to 7:00 pm and the family will receive family and friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the Pearson's Funeral Home 4508 N. Main Street Columbia, South Carolina. Ms. Everett will lay in state Saturday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church on Saturday. Born on November 5, 1932 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of the late Ora Bell Speights and the late Ernest Crandle Long. Doris was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday March 20, 2021. Doris attended Booker T. Washington in Columbia, South Carolina; and Mather Academy in Camden, South Carolina. After graduating from Benedict College with a degree in Accounting; she worked for a division of the United States Government. In 1954 She married, the late George Edward Everett; and from this union one son was born, Sheldon Duane Everett. She was a fervent wife, mother, and daughter. She later went on to work for Knickerbocker Hospital in New York. Doris relocated back to Columbia, SC to take position with Benedict College as a Controller. Her professional career came to a conclusion with the Fort Jackson Federal Credit Union and Wachovia Bank. During her retirement years Doris really loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren that brought her great joy. In addition, she loved to travel the world with her friends, better known as "The Golden Girls." Doris was a faithful member of the Saint John Baptist Church of Columbia, South Carolina. She was an active member in Sunday School Class 2, a dedicated member of the Senior Musical Choir, the Fannie Mae Jones Missionary Circle, member of the Bailey Green Brown Hingleton Family Group, and she was affiliated with the Church Women United Auxiliary of the Columbia Area. Outside of her church, she was a faithful member of the Gold Star Wives of America in role as Treasurer. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Everett; her parents; her brother, Reginald Speights; and Tommy Richardson. She leaves to celebrate her memories, her son, S. Duane (S. Michelle) Everett of Lexington, South Carolina; one sister, Vermell (Cleveland) Seibles of Columbia, South Carolina; one brother, Burrell Speights of Oakland, California; one granddaughter, Raynah R. Everett of Lexington, South Carolina; one grandson, Sheldon D. Everett, II of Springfield, Missouri; one great grandson, Blake Everett Wilson; three great granddaughters, Kinsley Everett, Lennon Everett, and Kerrington Everett; one niece, Maiba (Phanuel) Nueman of Charlotte, North Carolina; one nephew, Clement Speights of Rennes, France; one great niece, Oni; one great nephew, Phanuel, Jr.; and a host of loving family, dedicated and cherish friends.
