Service for Ms. Almetha Austin Thompson, 80, of Columbia, , South Carolina will be held on Thursday, 12:30 pm  March 23, 2023 at Ridgewood  Missionary Baptist Church 5326 Ridgeway Street Columbia, South Carolina with burial to follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbia 9301 Wilson Blvd. Columbia, South Carolina. There will be a viewing on Wednesday from 12:00 pm to 7;00pm at the Pearson's Funeral Home 4508 N  Main Street Columbia, South Carolina. Mrs. Thompson will be in the church one hour before services. Born in Blythewwod, SC, the daughter of the late Ervin Harper and Rebecca Harris on December 28, 1942. She was a Registered  Nurse for the Bryan Psychiatric Center until she retired. Surviving are her sons, Dexter Z. Austin, (Rev. Mona) of Columbia, SC, and Minister Mark A. Austin Columbia, SC, and Christopher Austin, (Fritzi) of Charleston, SC, and Daniel M. Thompson of Columbia, SC, and one daughter, Marquetia C. Thompson of Columbia, SC, and fourteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
